Wood Therapy
Wood Therapy
Maderotherapy, also known as “wood therapy,” is a natural, non-invasive massage technique with roots dating back to ancient China. In traditional Chinese medicine, special wooden tools were used since the earliest times to relieve pain, enhance blood and lymph circulation, improve muscle tone, and boost the body’s energy levels. Over time, the method spread throughout the Middle East and Europe, becoming particularly popular in 19th-century France for treating cellulite and fluid retention. In the 1990s, it was revitalized and perfected in South America, specifically in Colombia, for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.
Why is it special? This technique combines deep tissue massage with stimulation of the lymphatic and blood circulation, using specially designed, anatomically shaped wooden tools (e.g., bamboo, oak, or pine). It helps reduce the appearance of cellulite, firms the skin, shapes the body contours, stimulates collagen production, and supports the body's natural detoxification processes.
